There was this incident , a prominent professor of a Medical college while teaching , complained that Countries like USA follows their recommendations in filed of science, and write it to their books which we in any case read as "standard reference books"
Then he said that when we try to tweak that FDA CDC or USA standard mentioning that it is for USA mainland and not for India where local conditions are different, expert here cry and shout that this is without evidence and they will follow "more correct" international recommendation.
He linked it to patriotism, said that it was a patriotic act by Experts of specific countries to "trust" their Countrymen and while we indians are not patriotic in "true" sense .
Well , what he have Not noticed that when reference in field of Ayurveda, Yoga , Siddha, astrology, etc is taken , it is indian reference books, writers and works that are given precedence over Western Works
Its simply the fact that , modern medicine is a Western science. And we are all right to take standard input from pioneer institutes in this field.
As they take reference of our pioneer works and institute.
Last but not least, adequate localisations of Standards is necessary and that should be done. But to connect it with patriotism, is both wrong and dangerous as it can initiate a precedence of blind faithing , which is the most dangerous thing in a technical field .
